In 2022, Cecília wants to help Maria's shop, but Luíza has cut her off from Paz's bank accounts; later, a failed fundraiser pushes Cecília and Maria's relationship to a breaking point. In 1922, Maurício is convinced that Paz freed Bertha, and in retaliation, he vows to have Otávia - Cecília's younger sister - marry Raul. Paz discovers the truth about the murder of Cecília's parents.
